ICD 2010 is Over

Posted in Admin & Rules on July 22, 2010 by int centre day admin

Well, that’s it for International Centre Day for 2010.

Kandersteg International Scout Centre (CH) joins the previous winners Buitenzorg Scout Centrum (NL) and Houens Odde (DK).

Thank you for all the entries – it was a lot of fun (not so much hard work!) trying to find a winner.

Hope to see you all again next year for the next International Centre Day – working title “ICD 2011″!

Any ideas for improvements or changes to the ICD then please let us know. We’re already thinking about how to make the technology easies to deal with.

Until next time,

Tom and Ysbrand.

Buitenzorg: Just to wrap it up: all our activities very briefly described

Posted in Activity on July 21, 2010 by buitenzorg2010icd

At Buitenzorg (Baarn the Netherlands) today we have had great help from the French group “eclaireuses et eclaireurs de LORIENT”. This blog will give you a very short impression of all the assignments that they have done today. Thank you !

  1. Some pictures of different festive days were taken including Christmas, Easter, Halloween and New Years Eve. So we can see Jesus, a ghost and a chicken
  2. For the second task the group chose to show to us their two-week history at Buitenzorg. They want to show their arriving and the building of their camp; scout tables, tents…They try to be ecofriendly using natural materials and green energy.
  3. It is an interview of Baden Powell. He told his own story when he was scout during the war. He decided to create a scout movement for the kids to teach them how to live into the nature and how to respect it.
  4. For scouting on an alien planet called The Green Planet, the scouts designed a UFO to fly there. They used natural material to build it and the fuel is green energy. They met two aliens in the woods and show them their vehicule. Then they sleep all together and during the night, the aliens wake up and steal the UFO. The kids call Houston but the NASA can’t do anything.
  5. The meal of the future has being invented… You only buy a powder and you have to think about the meat you want to eat. Then, the powder will turn into that meat you desire so much. It can be very useful when you have little time, or are far away from home, and it even tastes well!
  6. This is the story of a farm of the future. The farmer is explaining that her products are organic foods. She has a cow to have milk. To feed it, she is cultivating some cereals which are fed by the fertilizer produced by the cow. She puts a filter under her field not to pollute the water table because of the cow dung. The farmer has also some salads and some carrots. She is ecofriendly. She has regular visits from the Dalai Lama who is travelling to see her on a flying carpet whose fuel is carrot juice.
  7. Travel through time, an escape is only possible when you have found the magic word!!
